Chair: River Oxenreider
River has been a part of the Camp Quest Ohio community since they became a camper in 2009. They were an LT for two years and have volunteered as staff since 2019. River also studies Mathematics and English at The Ohio State University and plays roller derby with Ohio Roller Derby.
Vice Chair: Brooke Devoy
Brooke began attending CQOH in 2015 as a camper, was an LT for two years, and had her first session on staff in 2022. Brooke has been on the board since 2023, and attends the University of Cincinnati for professional writing.
Treasurer: August E. Brunsman IV
August has been a volunteer with Camp Quest Ohio since 1999. August was the executive director of the Secular Student Alliance from 2001 through 2017. He has served on the boards of the Humanist Community of Central Ohio, the Secular Coalition for American, and PolyColumbus. He is an innkeeper and a realtor.
Tierna Oxenreider
Tierna has been involved with Camp Quest first as a camper and now as a staff member since 2012. Tierna is studying Neuroscience and Development at Columbia University in New York City. She is also on the Junior National Team for fencing and is a part of the Columbia Fencing Team. When Tierna isn’t studying, fencing, or working with Camp Quest, she loves to read, play video games, hang out with her dog Diamond, or eat all different types of food.
Shawn Jeffers
Shawn started volunteering with Camp Quest Ohio in 2003 and has been active in planning camp ever since. He has served on the Camp Quest National Board since 2012 and volunteered at Camp Quest Texas (2016) and Camp Quest South Carolina (2013-14). Shawn serves at Director of Leadership Development at Youth At The Center, a nonprofit organization he helped establish dedicated to youth leadership development and diversity, equity, and inclusion, in Cincinnati, OH.
Abby Doench
Abby started at camp quest as a camper in 2013, followed up by 2 years as an LT, and now 2 years as staff. Abby is studying to be an art teacher at Ohio University. She loves crochet, poetry, reading, hot chocolate, and learning!
Aidan Lippke
Aidan started attending CQ Ohio as a camper in 2012, and has served as a volunteer staff member since 2017. He has also volunteered at CQ Northwest. When not at camp, Aidan is pursuing a masters degree in guitar performance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Caleb Williams
Caleb began his journey with Camp Quest in 2008 as a camper, and has loved every second of it. From serving as a lead counselor, a cabin leader, assistant camp director, and camp director, he is always looking for new experiences. Caleb is a civil engineer.
Katie Grant
Bridget Gutish
Bridget began volunteering for Camp Quest in 2018 and joined the board in 2020; she has been in the roles of cabin leader, lead counselor, program director, and assistant camp director. She enjoys cooking, swimming, cycling, and playing racquetball. Bridget is a special education preschool teacher and likes to spend time with her family and friends.
Hunter Stevens
Hunter Stevens attended Camp Quest Ohio as a camper in 2013 through 2021. He has volunteered two years at Camp Quest Ohio in the years 2022 and 2023 as a counselor and lead counselor, respectively. Outside of camp Hunter is attending Western Kentucky University in hopes of earning a degree in civil engineering. His hobbies include rock climbing, disc golf, music performance, and Dungeons and Dragons.

Expectations for
Camp Quest Ohio Board of Directors
All Board Members
Prepare for and attend monthly board meetings
Make a “personally significant” financial contribution to the organization every year
Disclose all actual and potential conflicts of interest
Ensure alignment of mission, vision, strategies, objectives, and tactics
Understand programs and services of Camp Quest Ohio
Protect assets and provide proper financial oversight
Build a competent board (including recruiting, training, and evaluation)
Participate in identifying, cultivating, and asking donors for their support and grant writing
Participate in between one to three standing committees of the Board and additional ad hoc committees as required
Ask hard questions and take responsibility for making sure you understand what is going on
Enhance the organization’s public standing
Be a vocal advocate of the organization.
Secretary: Karlyn Finnerty
Karlyn been going to camp since 2013, starting as camper, then an LT for two year, and has been a cabin leader for 5 years now. Karlyn has s bachelor’s degree in zoology and now work in a laboratory. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking, painting, and making friendship bracelets.
