COVID UPDATES
Dear CQOH Families & Staff:
From all of us at Camp Quest Ohio, we hope your families are doing well.
While fun, friends, and freethought is our focus at camp, our first priority will always be safety. Our CQOH Board has been in contact with health officials as well as representatives at our host camp, Camp Graham, and representatives from the American Camping Association to determine our plans for this summer in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result of our conversations, our board has made the difficult decision to cancel our June 14-20 session for the upcoming summer. The biggest factors in reaching this decision are:
Our footprint at Camp Quest Ohio is quite large. Last summer, campers and staff attended from 16 different states. The current travel restrictions and the uncertainty of when they will be lifted makes travel impossible or risky for too many in our community.
Ohio was the first state in the country to close their schools and our current shelter in place order is undoubtedly keeping us safe. Due to the comprehensiveness of the current order, we are unable to effectively plan our programming and logistics needed for a quality camp experience.
We know the importance camp holds for so many us. Camp people are the most resourceful people we know, so if there was a way to hold camp in June, we would find a way to make it happen. Unfortunately, this is a time to listen to science and make a decision that protects our campers and staff. At this time, we are cautiously moving forward with plans for our July session, while continuing to monitor developments. We will make a final decision on whether we can stage a session in July in the coming weeks.
If our July session is cancelled, families will have the opportunity to be offered a refund of fees or the ability to transfer registration and any fees paid to summer 2021.
If conditions do not improve and we are forced to cancel the July session as well, we plan to offer a virtual session during July 12-18 that all campers are welcome to attend. If we move to a virtual session, we will send additional information about the details.
If you have any questions, please contact shawn@campquestohio.org. Thank you for being part of our camp community and for your continued support of Camp Quest Ohio.
